Div 2 4 Point Weekend Well as expected, our team despite the Xmas break is coming together as we comfortably took 2 points from Hitmen 14 to 4 and Cougars 12 to 0. All 3 debutants showed their worth and got on the score sheet. Great job boys, we need to up the pressure on the top 3 for a play off spot. Fair play to Skinny for taking the abuse before, during, and after the PS

Div 2 Go On A Goal Rampage! MK proved no match for us as we ran out clear winners 16-3. This was the best display if the season and it looked liked our Prem team were playing. All of you got on the scoresheet which showed it was a real team effort. Predators were next, and decided to play 3 on 4 for most of game. This allowed us to take a 2 goal lead. They changed tactics in the second and overtook us with some well worked goals. Luckily we pulled an equaliser out of the bag and it finished all square. Next games are in the new year.

Prem Team 3 Point Weekend A tough game against Lucky 7s saw us run out easy winners 5-2. Some good goals and a lot of time on the PP. Cruisers were up next and brought a full squad and new shirts. We went up and then trailed but eventually the points were shared. 3-3 was the final score although Blinky Doo could of spoiled it for Cruisers with 2 great chances in the end. Next up another toughie against B/Wood

Div 2 Seniors 1st Win and 4 Point Weekend We were a bit shakey in a tight 1st period against the Jokers, until Max went on a mad goal rush and bagged a few to see us run out easy winners. NW Vikings were next with a full bench, however we started well and held the lead all the way through. We were looking like more and more like a team and were still short benched. Great Job Boys and Ben it was really BenEficial that you played.

Div 2 Seniors Get Underway Well this was a learning curve, we have a strong side on paper (although we were short) and early unfamiliaration showed as KSF took a point and nearly all three albeit for a Sideshow Bob wonder goal. Impressive debuts from Dave an Miles, but the existing players need to step up thier game. Next up were the Div 1 champions, and we ran them close, stupid mistakes cost us early goals but we were in it till the end and should maybe have nicked a point? All in all a 1 point start, however once we gel we should be climbing the table. Good job boys

Prem Team Bag 4 Points and Suspensions An early start against Sharks saw us run out deserved winners. The difference between Prem and Div 1 clearly shows. Some good plays were made and Robbo got his first shutout of the season. Next up were Globo Gym (cool name) however they were worse than the Previous Div 1 opponents (however they have some decent players). The game resulted in chaos when a fight instigated by us but not started turned into a brawl due to an act of shear stupidity as one of the Cobras used his stick as a weapon. This will result in a lengthy ban however we too lost 2 key guys for a couple of games and Mason had to step up between the pipes. Thanks Mason and you can kit up for training following a shut out.

U18's & U21's Nationals Well it was mixed emotions this weekend as we took on the elite teams and the Ref's, however we just didnt have enough in both age groups and finished 3rd in 18's and 4th in 21's not bad but there was only 5 teams. We struggled with the style of play and couldnt maintain the intensity required, however we were holding our own against all the teams Dissapointing, however a good weekend and congratulations to George, Ben, & Mitchel for making Dream Team in 18's

Hornets Have Worst Weekend Of The Season & Miss Out On Senior Nationals! A disappointing end of the season when it had been a potential exciting one. We were out worked and out muscled by a under par Jaguars team. Both teams were missing players but Jaguars took it to us and were good for the win, but could only manage a draw. The power play unit saved the day for us with at least 3 PP goals to save our blushes. Left with an uphill struggle we took on the league leaders having been the only team to beat them this year. They took an early lead an never looked back, and we got a valuable lesson. There are no excuses we were outplayed and tactically poor

Hornets 18's Secure League Title Without Dropping A Point A close encounter with Stormers due to the loss of influential Murray to a dumb penalty in the second period. The team pulled together and saw out the 5 minute major only conceeding 1 goal and scoring in the other end short handed. The 5-3 win clinched the title, with ony Cardiff in the way of a 100% record The Cardiff game saw the return of a re-juvenated Murray who proved he can play when he wants to. A great team effort finished the game with a 14-3 scoreline after going 2-0 down early on. A good team performance from each player, however we know too well that nationals is a different level and we must stand up and be counted

Hornets 4 Point Weekend Guarantees 3rd Place! A great weekend for us, and a good advert for BIPHA South started with a fight for 3rd place with Frogs/Cruisers. A few vital errors and missed chances made this game a tough encounter, against a good experienced Frogs team. Fast, non stop end to end action made it an entertaining game for all. After going a goal down and then leading throughout, we held on well to finish 6-5 and cement 3rd place. The league leaders were up next and this was a crucial game. Commandoes have secured a second placed spot and could only lose the title to us. A very even game and decided on the PP, Valley took the lead through a PP goal only for them to get a double penalty with us scoring on the resulting 4 on 2 and again on the 4 on 3. A classic coaching example for all on how penalties cost games. This finished 2-1 with some very tense play down to the wire. So the final games of the season will decide the placings, it is Valley's to lose but o

Hornets 21's League Winners! Well done boys job done, shame that there wasnt much to do and it was only really a two horse race. Good to see Robbo pulling off some great saves Nationals here we come PS - Thanks for the team shout and winning the league is a great present

Hornets 6 Point Weekend (27.03.11) A harder than necessary game against Batmen as we finished 11-5, we played terrible for most of the game however had enough talent to see it out. B/wood was a differnet kettle of fish! An extremely tense game end to end with only a goal seperating the winners. Pretty much a reverse of our previous encounter but the boot was on the other foot. Good debut from Jamie bagging a couple at critical times, although celebrations were short lived and less said about that the better. 18's v Storm was unfortunately boring for all involved. Both teams were short benched but we ran out easy winners 11-0 great games from our key guys and Danny got an assist. Onwards and upwards we have to be focused on the final games to maintain our position at the top!

21's Victorious Well another game and another 2 points. Thanks to Gatorade we got a little bit of a lie in, however we probably could have done with the warm up. The lack of match fitness showed as we were very sloppy at times, although the scoreline does not reflect this (12-2). Some very impressive plays and individual flair won us the game easily but it was tarnished by the 2 goals conceded. We must play the same system in all games and ignore "gong shows" 8-0 is far better than 12-2. If we let 2 goals in against a team with 1 player, how will we deal with a team with 6-8 players!

Posted by Jonson on 12/03/2011

18's Top of the league! 2 great wins over Storm & Cardiff exceptional displays from Danny, Mitch, & George although all had a great day even Skinny was pulling some moves. Penalties & discipline was the only tarnish on the day.

2 very goods wins at the weekend for U18's cracking first game was a pleasure to watch and many other commented on how well drilled the team played Second game as expected but good win ! well played 18's

21's Extend Unbeaten Run! Cracking advert for BIPHA this weekend when the 2 top teams in the 21's league met for the 1st time this season. A delayed penalty goal (with a rare Brucey slap shot) meant we went into the break 1 up. The second after good play from Blinky and N Dubz gave us the cushion we needed and meant they were chasing the game. Mason got the third from a nice play by debutant George who held the puck up well. Brucey got the forth after going AWOL at the back to round the game off A good team performance, Mason was outstanding in D and Robbo played well and earnt his shutout

Posted by Jonson on 21/01/2011

Well thanks to the leagues incompetence the 18's games have been cancelled this weekend due to GB training. Surely this could have been avoided with some basic planning, however or 18's lose out again. Apologies to all players, especially those who are'nt playing up

Seniors 4 Point finish for the year! A good start against B'Rock dwindled in the 2nd period once the game went to running clock and we hit penalty trouble. 8-1 victors but we really owed Robbo for this game as he stood on his head and we let him down for their only goal. Jags were very different and right up for it. Taking the lead through a trademark Curtis "Vegas" Jefferies slap shot running us very close, and reducing us to 2 line hockey in the 2nd period. 6-2 was a fair result Robbo must have used up all his luck in the B'Rock game as both goals should never had gone in. Top D man Sebastian "The Daddy" Cerdan retired early in the B'Rock game due to yet another injury but Mitch stepped into his place partnering his brother and stole the show with some top notch goals. Finally Ben if you had asked me if you should wear your girdle I would have said yes especially to protect your gammy leg

18's Start With A Win! The 1st 18's game was a tough encounter with a better than expected Stormers team. Stormers took the lead and were trailing 3-2 with all to play for, however we pushed on and got the well deserved win. Murray showed his credentials but the whole team pitched in. Danny had a good game in net and Jack & Hugo had good debuts. Next up are Stormers again who will no doubt want retribution for this loss.

21's 4 Point Weekend! A average game against 5 Tigers ended in an outcome that could have been decided before face off. Although we were missing a few, and the lines were jumbled it wasnt a great result. We let too many goals in and should have scored a few more. We must learn to play the same systems against good teams and bad. Stormers looked like a team that could play, but they need their own goalie. Credit to them for not wasting our time and playing the game with a player in net, however there was no intensity. Although it was a better performance than the Tigers against better outfield players. Wins are wins, but this weekend wont help us when we play Storm and their conference team. Good debuts from Callum & Kieron and Adam quadroupled his tally from last season in one day.

Hornets suffer first loss! Well we must have played the best Cruisers/Frogs in years, in fact it could be argued that we played multiple Cruisers teams at once. They had 14 players some old some new but were a shadow of the 4 or 5 or sometimes 7 or 8 that we have played (and sometimes lost to) in the past. We were missing a few key guys and had our 18's netminder in (who is as good as both our 21's and senior goalie) but it's no excuse. We outshot them and hit the bar/post apporximately 10 times, but we tired and once the second goal went in, it would be difficult to pull back. A great game of hockey and a credit to our league. Back to work in training, although a scrambled PP goal and a 3rd class/lucky tip in are difficult to prepare for.

Hornets off to a flying start! Good job boys after a slow start we proved the difference between the top end and bottom end of the league. Some good plays and great saves from Robbo ensured we took the points although we were missing some influential players. Slight taint with thier first goal although on the PK poor decision making resulted in a turnover and ruined Robbo's shutout. This obviously pissed Robbo off as he decided to go to sleep and let a curler in straight from the face off. This resulted in B/rock gaining more than they deserved. Good result but a tough challenge next week with frogs/cruisers. PS - Lee was unlucky when Dan nipped in to tap home in the open net
